Generic Patch Introduced for Prevention of Motion Sickness Nausea

By Perrigo Company plc | August 1, 2017

Perrigo announces the launch of the AB-rated generic version of Transderm Scop 1.5 mg.

Perrigo Company plc and its co-development partner Aveva Drug Delivery Systems, Inc., an Apotex company, announced the prescription pharmaceutical launch of scopolamine 1.5 mg transdermal system patch, the AB-rated generic equivalent to Transderm Scop (scopolamine 1.5 mg).

Transderm Scop (scopolamine 1.5 mg) transdermal system patch is an anticholinergic indicated for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness and recovery from anesthesia after surgery in adults. Annual market sales for the 12 months ending May 2017 were approximately $158 million.

Perrigo Company plc, founded in 1887 as a packager of home remedies, built a business model that combined a fast-moving consumer goods company, a high-quality pharmaceutical manufacturing organization, and a supply chain network.

The company is the world’s largest manufacturer of over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare products and supplier of infant formulas for the store brand market. It also is a leading provider of branded OTC products throughout Europe and the U.S., as well as a leading producer of ‘extended topical’ prescription drugs. Headquartered in Ireland, the company sells its products primarily in North America and Europe, as well as in other markets, including Australia, Israel, and China.
