By Pharmaceutical Processing | November 3, 2008

Vangent, Inc., a global provider of information management and strategic business process outsourcing solutions, has announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has awarded the company a ten-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract to provide information technology support services for the FDA’s Information and Computing Technologies for the 21st Century (ICT21) Program. The full contract is valued at approximately $2.5 billion dollars. Vangent will serve as a sub-contractor to IDL-Pragmatics Innovation Partners JV, a joint venture of IDL Solutions, Inc. and Pragmatics, Inc., one of 10 organizations receiving awards under the ICT21 contract. The FDA developed the ICT21 program to enhance product development and approval, improve manufacturing and product quality, strengthen post-approval surveillance and safety, support electronic prescribing, and advance clinical decision support. Under the contract, Vangent and other awardees will collaborate to provide innovative, effective, and efficient solutions for meeting the stated mission, program, and task order-level objectives of FDA and ICT21. The contractors will provide best-of breed solutions for an operating infrastructure that supports a diverse set of IT requirements. “The ICT21 contract allows us to expand our relationship with the FDA by leveraging our expertise in providing infrastructure services to a variety of federal government customers,” said Mac Curtis, president and CEO of Vangent, Inc. “Our proven experience, combined with the expertise of our fellow contractors, creates a powerful team. We recognize the strength of these relationships, and hope to increase our future presence in small-business team contracts.” The team of 13 led by IDL-Pragmatics includes Digicon Corporation; HCI Action Architectural Consultants; INDUS Corporation; QWEST Government Services, Inc.; TechTeam Government Solutions, Inc.; TestPros, Inc.; The Stellar Corporation; World Wide Technology, Inc.; and Z-Tech/and ICF International Company. The contract includes awards in both the large business and small business categories.
