Drug Information Association Names New Executive Director (2714)

HORSHAM, PA, February 7, 2005 – The Drug Information Association (DIA), a non-profit organization serving professionals in the biopharmaceutical and related industries, announces the hiring of David M. Maola, Esq. as its new executive director. In his role as executive director, Maola will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the association as well as providing direction on the implementation of the association’s strategic plan. This includes providing leadership and vision for all of the DIA’s worldwide operations, including offices in Europe and Japan, managing the association’s staff and ensuring that adequate support is available for its programs, employees and members. In addition, David will work on strategies such as enhancing member services, expansion of offerings and further development of a global marketing plan. “The DIA is the premier member-driven organization for individuals involved in the drug development industry,” said Maola. “It’s growing worldwide and I’m honored to have the opportunity to apply the skills I’ve learned over the years to further the association.”Before joining the DIA, Maola served as the executive director of both the Chester County Bar Association and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, a Chicago-based international organization that brings together all of the disciplines involved in creating the urban environment on a global basis. As the executive director of both organizations, Maola was responsible for a variety of functions including: member services /recruitment, finances, technology, public relations and board relations. He has also served as the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at Peirce College and the assistant executive director of the Philadelphia Bar Association, where he supervised the daily operation of a 26-person staff for the 12,000 member non-profit association. “David’s (Maola’s) 20+ years of executive leadership in the non-profit sector will greatly benefit the DIA,” said Theresa Kane Musser, acting president of DIA. “Given his extensive association management experience with various bar associations, combined with his role as Dean at Peirce College, David possesses the skills and knowledge that will be invaluable to the advancement of DIA’s mission, vision and goals.”
