Corning and Sartorius Stedim Biotech Announce Collaboration

By Pharmaceutical Processing | January 29, 2010

Corning Incorporated and Sartorius Stedim Biotech, international suppliers to the pharma and biotech industries, today announced a co-marketing and branding collaboration. The companies intend to leverage existing synergies to co-market a full range of cell culture products through a combined product catalog and work together on numerous marketing and sales initiatives. Additionally, the companies are exploring best options and approaches for future research and development (R&D) efforts and joint product development.

“As competitive pressures in the cell culture industry continue to evolve and increase, it is critical that we are able to offer customers a full range of cell culture laboratory products spanning basic research to full-scale production,” said Thomas Appelt, vice president and general manager, Corning Life Sciences. “Our collaboration with another industry leader like Sartorius Stedim Biotech will strongly position both companies for future success.”

Reinhard Vogt, executive vice president and board member of Sartorius Stedim Biotech, said “both companies are leaders in single-use technology and can serve the global cell culture community with platforms for scaleable solutions for both attached cells and cells in suspension. Working together will enable us to provide customers with more options and increased access to innovative products and technologies, helping them further their research efforts and improve results.”

The collaboration will build off the companies’ existing relationship and will take effect immediately. A combined cell culture product catalog for North America is already available, with additional regional catalogs to soon follow.
