The American Urological Association (AUA) has announced that Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation is the 2005 recipient of the AUA Health Science Award. The award will be given at the annual awards banquet during the 100th Annual Scientific Meeting of the AUA in San Antonio.
The AUA Health Science Award is given each year to one company that best supports the AUA’s mission throughout the year — to promote the highest standards of urological clinical care through education (including continuing medical education, or CME), research and in the formulation of health-care policy. Many AUA activities are made possible through educational grants from companies such as Novartis. The recipient is selected by the AUA Awards Committee, which is comprised of AUA senior leadership.
“For several years, Novartis Pharmaceuticals has been a tremendous supporter of AUA CME,” said AUA Associate Executive Director of Development and Publications Kevin Wohlfort. “Their contributions have made it possible for us to fulfill our organizational mission to promote the highest standards of urologic care.”
“On behalf of many employees at Novartis whose work it reflects, we are honored to be recognized for our efforts to support AUA’s educational, scientific and research goals, and look forward to continued partnership with AUA,” noted Alex Gorsky, chief operating officer, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
