PITTSBURGH (AP) — Drug developer Mylan Inc. said Friday federal regulators have given final approval to an application to make a generic version of the heartburn drug Prilosec. The FDA approved an abbreviated new drug application for omeprazole delayed-release capsules, 40 mg, Mylan said in a statement. The capsules are approved for the treatment of peptic ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Mylan said it would ship the drug immediately. Prilosec is made by AstraZeneca PLC.
