The GE Foundation this week presented $100,000 in grant funding to Women in Manufacturing (WiM) to bolster its regional and national programming.
WiM officials, who made the announcement at the group’s annual summit in Minneapolis, said that the contribution would particularly help establish new continuing education opportunities.

WiM President Allison Grealis said that many currently available career advancement programs are too expensive for women employed by small or medium-sized manufacturers.
“This grant will make all the difference in allowing WiM to provide effective and affordable educational opportunities to support the advancement of women in manufacturing,” Grealis said.
GE officials, meanwhile, said that the grant fits with its goal of narrowing the manufacturing sector’s skills gap and will help “establish a leadership pipeline within manufacturing.”
