Valeant Pharmaceuticals plans to move some US production back to Canada
within three years, The Gazette reported.
Last week, Valeant signed a $425-million deal to buy Dermik, Sanofi’s
skin-care products company and will acquire a plant in Laval with 200
employees.
The Dermik plant will go on making Dermik products, prescriptions for Sanofi
and outsourced contracts for three years, but Valeant will move outsourced
production back to the Dermik plant in Laval in three years, CEO Michael Pearson
said.
Moreover, Valeant also announced it is buying Ortho Dermatologics from
Janssen Pharmaceuticals for $345 million, bringing Valeant’s Canadian workforce
to 1500.
