URL Pharma, a specialtypharmaceutical company, today announced it has acquired the assets ofPharmPro, a division of Fluid Air, Inc. The facility, located in Aurora,Illinois, is FDA inspected and DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) licensed. Theacquisition expands the capacity and capabilities of URL Pharma’s productdevelopment and manufacturing operations. The 19,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility includes fluid bedtechnology, enabling water and solvent coating processes critical to thedevelopment and manufacture of a wide array of modified release products. Theacquisition also includes DuraGran , a proprietary platform technology thatenables the efficient production of uniform, small granules in the developmentand manufacture of modified release dosage forms. “This acquisition brings fluid bed technology in-house, enabling us todevelop and manufacture a broad range of products for our pharmaceuticaltechnology and brand pipelines,” commented Richard H. Roberts, M.D., Ph.D.,URL Pharma’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “As part of thistransaction, 17 former Fluid-Air employees, many with critical engineeringexpertise, will join URL Pharma and help integrate the new technology into ourproduct development and manufacturing operations.”
