Takeda Pharmaceuticals Awards Accenture a Multi-Year Application and Infrastructure Outsourcing Contract

By Pharmaceutical Processing | October 7, 2010

Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, Inc. has engaged Accenture to provide a range of information technology (IT) services under a
strategic outsourcing contract. Financial terms of the multi-year contract were
not disclosed.

Under terms of the
agreement, Accenture will provide Takeda with application and infrastructure
outsourcing services. Application outsourcing services include development,
testing, and maintenance of all applications supporting Takeda’s operations.
Infrastructure outsourcing services include service desk management, data
center management, server and storage management, end-user computing, and network
management.

The services being
provided will enable Takeda to focus on driving new innovation into the
marketplace to further enhance its competitive positioning.

“Increasing
global demands and expanding geographically require a different business model,
and working with Accenture will enable us to have worldwide reach,” said
Lee Voight, Vice President, Information Technology, Takeda Pharmaceuticals
North America, Inc. “Through this new IT model, Takeda will meet its
global technology needs, allowing us to continue the important work of helping
patients.” “Bundling application and infrastructure services will
help Takeda to achieve even greater IT standardization and synergies and to
reduce operating costs,” said Nathan Hansen, executive partner in
Accenture’s Life Sciences practice. “We look forward to delivering
outsourcing services to Takeda to enable continued high customer service
levels.” The agreement is designed to improve the efficiency and
effectiveness of the IT functions at Takeda by transforming processes and
increasing automation using Accenture Global Delivery Network centers in New Delhi and Bangalore, and other Accenture and Takeda facilities in
the United States.
The contract was signed in late September and begins immediately. The contract
covers ex-Japan IT services currently provided by Takeda Pharmaceuticals North
America.
