All HealthStar/JCMCO tablet press models now offer upper punch penetration as an optional upgrade. Upper penetration allows for longer die life by controlling the wear point within the die at the point of compression. By starting with deeper penetration and gradually decreasing penetration as die wear becomes evident and then flipping the die and repeating the process die, life can be extended. Upper punch penetration can assist with capping problems since the method mentioned above offers a smoother die surface to eject through. Also, if necessary, the upper punch penetration can be set as shallow as possible to allow easier release of air as the tablet is compressed — allowing for more efficient compression and less trapped air.
