SKAN, a worldwide provider of pharmaceutical aseptic isolation and hydrogen peroxide-based sterilization technologies, will launch its newly patented SKAN NANOX catalyst technology at Booth No. 3140 at INTERPHEX, March 21-23, 2017, at the Javits Center in New York.
“SKAN is well-known for developing and validating robust, high quality isolation systems with one of the fastest decontamination cycles in the industry,” said Larry Cabeceiras, President, SKAN US. “The patented SKAN NANOX catalysts were developed in cooperation with leading Swiss University utilizing nano-particles. This catalyst was engineered to enable higher efficiency breakdown of Hydrogen Peroxide at lower temperatures with performance far superior to any other catalyst available on the market today.
“With the launch of our SKAN NANOX catalyst technology, we continue to innovate by reducing the overall time and energy required for hydrogen peroxide based decontamination and aeration, while positively impacting the effect on the environment,” Cabeceiras added. “A demonstration video on the SKAN NANOX and the PSI-L will be presented in booth 3140 during the INTERPHEX.”
SKAN is also highlighting its award winning modular small-scale aseptic processing isolator, Pharmaceutical Safety Isolator, (PSI-L) with SARA Material Airlocks for conventional aseptic applications. The PSI-L is a modular and extendable isolator system with a unique L-shaped flange, which enables quick equipment changes to host different filling machines or other pharmaceutical processes.
The short decontamination cycle and the return air filter (FIPA) make it a universal, aseptic workspace for the production of aseptic and/or highly active pharmaceutical products. The isolator and the product machine modules fit together on the “lock-and key” principle. The basic unit (L-flange) of the isolator is equipped with an inflatable seal to ensure that the machine module is connected hermetically.
Designed as a space-saving manufacturing solution, VarioSys, was awarded the INTERPHEX 2016 Biotech Innovation Award which recognizes innovative technologies that address an industry need, but does so in such a way as to exceed previous standards, thereby making the manufacturing process simpler and more cost effective.
VarioSys features a flexible pharmaceutical/biotechnological processing line, modular design and standardization of subassemblies. The PSI-L enables aseptic production in clean room Grade A conditions with individual production modules installed to fit on the lock-and-key principle, for instance, a machine for processing syringes in nests or a filling and closing machine for vials.
Cabeceiras continued, “As part of INTERPHEX’s three-day technical conference, SKAN experts will lead an INTERPHEX Live panel discussion entitled, “Evolution of Pre-filled Syringes” taking place on Tuesday, March 21 from 11:15 am -12:00 pm. Beginning at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, SKAN will present at our booth a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and updates from SKAN’s Sterility Testing Conference and Aseptic Barrier Technical Summit held in October 2016. Techniques and lessons learned from manufacturing companies will be shared along with a demonstration video of the exciting new SKAN NANOX catalyst technology.”
SKAN US, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SKAN AG Switzerland (founded in 1968) and a provider of state-of-the-art barrier isolation technology. With over 9,000 installations in over 43 countries, SKAN is an active contributor in the fields of cleanroom technology, isolator technology, contamination control, services, and system qualification for the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and compounding industries.
