PhRMA launched a new Innovation Hub to showcase the latest data and research on innovation in the biopharmaceutical industry. The new Innovation Hub, accessible via www.Innovation.org, provides easy access to PhRMA resources related to the R&D process, the biopharmaceutical pipeline, and progress fighting diseases such as hepatitis C, Alzheimer’s, leukemia, cancer, and HIV/AIDS. This website features a variety of infographics, videos, charts, and timelines, including the following:
· New Video on Cumulative Innovation: A new video, “Cumulative steps, big gains for patients,” demonstrates how advances in treating debilitating diseases are usually the result of an accumulation of knowledge and research over time, rather than a single breakthrough in treatment.
· New Infographic Highlighting Progress Against Hepatitis C: A new infographic, “New Hope for Patients with Hepatitis C,” highlights the value of new hepatitis C medicines that are curing 90 percent of patients and helping to prevent billions of dollars in hospitalizations and other medical costs to treat patients with the disease.
· Interactive Timeline on Great Moments in Medical Innovation: A new interactive timeline highlights great moments in medical innovation – from the discovery of penicillin to the first polio vaccine to the mapping of the human genome.
· Slide Show on Progress Against Rheumatoid Arthritis: A new slide show demonstrates how medicines are improving the lives of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
This innovation hub will serve as a central repository for information about biopharmaceutical innovation and its impact on patients, the health care system, and society. Given your interest in these issues, we wanted to highlight this new resource and share with you some of its most interesting features.
