TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) _ Drug maker Pfizer Inc. is putting up for sale the Terre Haute manufacturing plant where about 800 people worked before the company decided to close it. Pfizer said Monday it had hired a real estate services company to market the 1,000-acre site where the company has had operations since 1948. The New York-based company cut most jobs of its Terre Haute jobs in January after it decided to stop selling the plant’s top product, the inhaled insulin Exubera, because of disappointing sales. Pfizer said in May it would close the plant and eliminate its remaining 140 jobs. Pfizer had invested more than $300 million in the facility since 1999 as it ramped up production of Exubera. However, the drug never met expectations.
