OSG Norwich Pharmaceuticals Names New President

By Pharmaceutical Processing | June 9, 2005

OSG Norwich Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a U.S.-based outsourcing provider of pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging, and associated QA/QC services, has named Christopher R. Calhoun as President. Chris has spent his entire 21-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, with 18 of those years located in Norwich, NY.

Chris most recently served as Vice President, Quality and Regulatory Affairs of OSG Norwich, a position he held since the acquisition of Norwich by Outsourcing Services Group in 2001. In this role, Chris was instrumental in transforming the QA/QC organization into a group that successfully meets the needs of multiple customers, while maintaining the high standards of Compliance and a Continuous Improvement culture for which Norwich is well known. Most recently he added a dedicated group to concentrate on Analytical Method Development and Transfer. Chris also laid the plans for an expansion and upgrade of the Analytical, Microbiology, and Stability laboratories which will begin this year.

Upon accepting the leadership role for Norwich Pharmaceuticals, Chris stated, “I am extremely excited at the opportunity to lead OSG Norwich Pharmaceuticals at this critical phase of its development and growth. The employees of OSG Norwich have accomplished some amazing things in the past few years. I have high confidence that the OSG Norwich work ethic and passion for meeting and exceeding customer needs will continue into the future, and that our company, our customers, and the people who need their products, will all benefit from our success.”

Prior to the acquisition of Norwich Pharmaceuticals by Outsourcing Services Group, Chris spent 17 years with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals. His career included assignments in Plant Engineering, Process and Product Development, Recruiting, Total Productive Maintenance, and Site and Global Quality Assurance leadership.

John Hewson, President and CEO, Outsourcing Services Group, stated “We are very fortunate to have a strong leader like Chris to step up and assume the leadership of Norwich Pharmaceuticals. Chris has been a key member of the leadership team since Norwich’s inception and has been a significant contributor to its success. We look forward to having Chris continue the impressive record of growth and customer satisfaction that has been accomplished at Norwich.”
