Novartis has announced thatPrevacid(R) 24HR (lansoprazole delayed-release capsules 15 mg) has beenapproved by the FDA as the firstOTC Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) for the treatment offrequent heartburn since 2003. Prevacid 24HR is expected to be availableover-the-counter in 2009.
