These new single-use assemblies and container closures are manufactured from AdvantaFlex® biopharmaceutical TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). AdvantaFlex may be extruded as tubing or molded into connections such at tees, wyes, crosses, reducers, and Tri-Clamps®. Secure closures — stoppers, caps, True Union and GL45 inserts, and other styles — for containers of glass, metal, or plastic may also be molded from the material. These single-use assemblies help eliminate barbed fitting connections and their potential leaks. They are free of silicone oils and animal-derived ingredients and contain fewer extractables than other tubing. The TPE is heat sealable, weldable, and offers excellent pump life. Using these single-use assemblies eliminates the need to splice silicone tubing sections into a process line, which can reduce operator errors.
