TOPEKA, Kan.
(AP) — Attorney General Derek Schmidt says the state of Kansas will receive just over $700,000 from
a multi-state settlement of a lawsuit against two pharmaceutical companies.

Schmidt said in a news release Thursday that Kansas will get $701,858
as part of the $40.75 million settlement with GlaxoSmithKline and SB Pharmco
Puerto Rico.

The states alleged in the lawsuit that the two companies
produced tainted drugs by using substandard manufacturing processes. The drugs
include Paxil CR, Kyrtil, Bactroban and Avandamet,

Schmidt says the plant where the tainted drugs were produced
has been closed.
