Information Mediary Corp. (IMC) has expanded its Med-ic Electronic Compliance Monitor (ECM) lineup to include eCAP, a smart RFID closure for medication bottles and vials, IMC announced.
Med-ic eCAP will launch at Interphex 2004 in New York, March 16-18, 2004.
Med-ic eCAP is a programmable RFID reminder and monitoring solutionthat tracks medication usage without active patient input, IMC said. It consists ofIMC’s Med-ic RFID “smart” sensor embedded in a bottle closure by Remind Cap International Ltd. (RCIL).
Med-ic eCAP can be programmed to remind the patient when the next doseis due and records the time the patient opens the bottle to remove the tabletor capsule, thereby logging the patient’s medication compliance, the company said. The recorded data are then retrieved with IMC’s CertiScan reader for review by thephysician, researcher or pharmacist.
The Med-ic eCAP solution targets two critical areas: 1) monitoring of patient adherence in clinical pharmacy and trials, and 2) securing the pharmaceutical supply chain, as dictated by recent FDA requirements, IMC said.
IMC will be at Interphex Booth 282 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York.
