Foster Wheeler’s John Nichols Elected to the ISPE Board

HAMILTON, Bermuda (November 22, 2004) –John Nichols, global pharmaceutical technology director of Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd., has been elected to the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering’s (ISPE) international board of directors. “We want ISPE to maintain its position at the forefront of initiatives such as innovation, risk assessment and management, and process automation technology (PAT),” Nichols said. “I hope to contribute new ideas from my other work in innovative technologies associated with process intensification and green chemistry.”

Nichols is an engineer with more than 30 years’ experience in the life sciences industry. In his current role at Foster Wheeler, he is responsible for the company’s worldwide pharmaceutical technology development and coordination as well as for consultancy expertise to key projects.

He is a member and past chairman of the ISPE European Continuing Education Committee, and is European technical advisor to the steering group on the BPC/API Baseline Guide update. Nichols was voted ISPE’s Member of the Year in 2003.

Nichols obtained his BSc in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London, and a Diploma in Management from Thames Polytechnic, London. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers in the UK.

ISPE is a global, not-for-profit membership organization that provides education, training, and technical publications to life science professionals.
