Former BMS Chemist Pleads Not Guilty to Poisoning Husband

By Pharmaceutical Processing | May 18, 2011

NEW BRUNSWICK,
N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey chemist
accused of fatally poisoning her estranged husband with thallium she got at
work has pleaded not guilty.

Tianle Li (tee-ahn-lay lee) of Monroe
Township in Middlesex County
entered the plea Tuesday in response to a grand jury indictment. She’s charged
with murder and hindering apprehension.

Li worked for pharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb
Co. for 10 years and was arrested in February. Prosecutors contend that she
murdered Xiaoye (zow-yay) Wang by poisoning him with thallium, a highly toxic
metal. The couple was in the process of divorcing.

Authorities say Li got the chemical at work and slipped it
in her husband’s food between mid-November and Jan. 26, when he died at a Princeton hospital

Li remains in the Middlesex County Jail on $4.15 million
bail.
