Sartopore® 2 0.1 µm XLM filters in cartridges and T-style autoclavable/gamma-irradiatable MaxiCap format provide cost-effective, mycoplasma-retentive media filtration solutions for large-scale, single-use applications. The filter elements have been specifically developed for sterilizing-grade and mycoplasma-retentive filtration of modern serum-free hydrolysate-supplemented as well as fully chemically defined cell culture media used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. These filters feature an optimized, highly asymmetric 0.2 µm nominal pre-filter membrane coupled with an increased surface area of 0.8 m²/10” cartridge. The final membrane is the same as the company’s current secure and highly reliable mycoplasma-retentive 0.1 µm PES membrane. This combination has shown outstanding total throughput performance in several different cell culture media, resulting in one of the lowest filtration costs per liter of media. Typical applications include sterilizing-grade filtration and mycoplasma removal from: plant peptone, soy or yeast supplemented cell-culture media; serum containing cell-culture media; cell culture media components; all other cell culture media used in biotech manufacturing; and any other application requiring sub 0.2 ?m filtration for enhanced sterility assurance.
