MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) — Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Wednesday it received FDA approval for generic versions of two flavors of Nicorette nicotine gum. The FDA approval covers nicotine gum in strengths of 2 mg and 4 mg, in fruit and cinnamon flavors. Watson said it will start shipping the product immediately. The gum is sold by GlaxoSmithKline PLC as Nicorette Fruit Chill and Cinnamon Surge gums. The gum will be marketed by the Watson Laboratories subsidiary. Watson said U.S. sales of over-the-counter nicotine gum were $305 million for the year ended in March.
