The market requirements for filling and closing machines for eye drops are that they must be multifunctional and in compliance with GMP and FDA regulations. Output of 350 bottles/min. and product safety are also important considerations for this customer. The company’s engineering team was especially challenged with the in-feed of the plastic containers for this eye drop line. Two newly designed sorting units process a variety of bottle types and sizes without any change of format parts and allow the secure transfer into the newly developed segment transport system. The feeding and sorting is completely autoclavable due to an adapted design and use of appropriate materials. This set up is unique in the field of plastic bottle processing. The newly developed segment transport system is a direct result of the user’s requirements of easy dismantling, cleaning and sterilization.
