Entegris Inc. Acquires Electrol Specialties Company

By Pharmaceutical Processing | February 10, 2003

Entegris, Inc. has announced that it has purchased the complete assets of Electrol Specialties Company (ESC) in a cash transaction. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. ESC, an Illinois-based company, is a market leader in Clean-In-Place (CIP) technology for the biopharmaceutical industry and beverage industries. ESC’s current customers include industry leaders in the biopharmaceutical market.

“The purchase of Electrol Specialties Company strengthens Entegris’ position in the life sciences market,” said Michael Wright, Entegris’ chief operating officer. “The integration of Entegris’ fluoropolymer materials and fluid handling expertise with ESC’s stainless steel system design and fabrication capabilities enables us to expand the scope of our current products and services. We will leverage ESC’s extensive CIP experience, bio-pharmaceutical industry customer relationships and innovative technology to further grow Entegris’ reach in this market.”

Entegris will retain ESC’s existing management team and employees, and continue to manufacture CIP products at ESC’s 52,000-square-foot facility in Illinois. ESC’s CIP technology allows manufacturers in the life science market to increase productivity by reducing resources and time required to clean biopharmaceutical systems between production campaigns.

“We are extremely excited to join this world-class team,” said Frank Bazo, president of ESC. “Protecting and transporting critical materials is what Entegris does best and I can’t think of more critical materials than those used in pharmaceuticals. The synergy between our two companies is very strong and I know we will accomplish great things together.”More Info – www.entegris.com
