Company has achieved the stringent containment criteria required for a high-level research university: reaching an OEL of <.1 ug/m3 when handling kilograms of API. The institution – handling API and similar compounds in the production and formulation processes – sought to optimize containment utilizing limited HVAC capacity. The solution (derived from concept designs, enclosure mock-ups, SOP development and site acceptance testing) included implementing the company’s custom enclosure design which allowed for interchangeable equipment (friabilators, comills, tablet presses, sieve-shakers and granulators) to be used under containment as well as utilizing a plug’n’play layout to accommodate each application. By achieving the OEL <.1 ug/m3, health and safety requirements can be achieved in the laboratory without restrictive and excessive protective equipment.
