EL SEGUNDO, CA (August 17, 2004) – Computer Sciences Corp. has acquired PortonInternational Inc.’s interest in DynPort Vaccine Co. LLC, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of biodefense biologics products. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Formerly a joint venture between Computer Sciences and Porton International Inc., DynPort has been the prime systems contractor for the Department of Defense Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program since 1997.
Products in development at DynPort include vaccines for botulinum neurotoxin,tularemia, Venezuelan equine encephalitis, anthrax and plague, and a therapeutic blood product, vaccinia immune globulin, to treat complications of smallpox vaccination.
DynPort is involved in the development and licensure of biodefense vaccines for the Department of Defense and civilian populations. DynPort is part of Computer Sciences ‘s Enforcement, Security & Intelligence organization, which was created in 2002 to support U.S. security programs.
