Patheon Inc. recently announced the appointment of Mr. Clive V. Bennett to the position of President, Patheon U.S.A., and President and Chief Operating Officer of MOVA Pharmaceutical Corporation, Patheon’s wholly owned subsidiary acquired in December 2004. In his new role, Mr. Bennett will report to Nick DiPietro, President and Chief Operating Officer of Patheon Inc.
In accordance with the transition plans announced at the time that Patheon acquired MOVA, Mr. Joaquin Viso, currently President and Chief Executive Officer of MOVA Pharmaceutical Corporation, will resign as President and CEO of MOVA and will become MOVA’s non-executive Chairman of the Board. Mr. Viso will continue to serve as a Director of Patheon Inc. The transition process will begin on July 15, 2005, with Mr. Viso formally stepping down as President and CEO of MOVA on August 1, 2005.
In his new role, Mr. Bennett will be responsible for the general management of MOVA’s three sites in Puerto Rico, U.S.A. and Patheon’s Cincinnati Operations. He will also continue to lead business development and sales for Patheon throughout North America.
Mr. Bennett joined Patheon in January 2002 as Executive Vice-President, Operations and was appointed President, Patheon North America in January 2004. Prior to joining Patheon, Mr. Bennett’s 32-year career in the pharmaceutical industry included 23 years with Hoechst Marion Roussel (now Sanofi-Aventis), where he served as Senior Vice-President of Operations and Global Drug Product Supply from 1995 until 1999. Fluent in Spanish, his experience included overseeing HMR’s operations worldwide, including its facilities in Puerto Rico and Latin America. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Chemistry from Bath University (UK).
