BURTONSVILLE, MD (August 2, 2004) – ChiRhoClin, Inc. has announced that human secretin product is now commercially available. The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) gave final approval to ChiRhoClin’s new drug application for human secretin in April 2004.
Human secretin is a synthetically produced peptide, identical to the naturally occurring human gastrointestinal hormone. It is secreted by intestinal cells in response to the ingestion of food.
The drug has been approved by the FDA for several situations, including stimulation of pancreatic secretions including bicarbonate to aid in the diagnosis of pancreatic exocrine dysfunction.
ChiRhoClin, Inc. is the developer and NDA holder of both porcine secretin and human secretin.
